Green Cardamom

Elettaria cardamomum, commonly known as green or true cardamom, is a herbaceous, perennial plant in the ginger family, native to southern India. It is the most common of the species whose seeds are used as a spice called cardamom. Cardamom is considered to be one of the world’s oldest spices. The use of this spice dates back at least 4000 years. Green cardamom is one of the most expensive spices by weight, but little is needed to impart flavour.
